Oh dear..........I think you may of misunderstood me regarding the RA nurse. I have three specailist nurses, I have only seen two of them and both of them were lovely. After reading others posts about their experiences with hospitals etc I think I am lucky with the care that I have received.
When I am on a mission, I am on a mission. I just wanted to talk to someone for advice of what to do. The specialist nurses phone was on answer machine. I telephoned the RA clinic and was told that the nurses where with patients. If I had left a message I am sure that they would of returned my call later that day. I, like I said tried my GP's again just to see if I could speak to a doctor or nurse.........as it was the Tuesday after the bank holiday the phone was constantly engaged with people trying to make appointments. Thats why I called the OT just on the off chance I could speak to someone, which I did.
In the great scheme of things it was only my finger that was hurting, flustrating as it was there would of been people more desperate than me seeking appointments for more urgent medical needs. Like I said, the OT advised me to ring the GP and well the rest is history.
The GP agreed with me that its all down to the RA along with the tendonstis in my wrist it's just too much of a coincidence to be anything else. I did not and still dont' relish the thought of having steroids injecting in my finger, I only had an injectoin of steroid in my bot in January.
I have found that since the weekend and now that the painful (if I touched) knuckle has improved it is so much better. The last two mornings upon waking it is back in the bent under position but with gentle teasing, grinning and bearing the pain I can get it back into a nearly straight postion. I am careful not to put too much pressure on it when I am doing things but it does get stiff and painful when I am resting it. I have an appointment in about two weeks time with the nurse, I have been given the choice of adding MTX or hydro...thingy (can't spell it) to what I am already taking because things have been not too good lately so when I see her if it is still the same then I will ask her for advice about it.
Just a thankyou for all of your post about it I feel that I have made a bit of a fuss about nothing, but it was last Saturday very, very painful.
